I Tested the 2025 Maserati GranCabrio Trofeo and It Surprised Me

The 2025 Maserati GranCabrio Trofeo isn’t just another flashy convertible. With its punchy V6, smooth drive, and head-turning looks, this car had me rethinking what a Maserati can really deliver. Here’s my full take.
I’ll admit, I went into this test drive with mixed expectations. Maserati has had its ups and downs over the last decade, and while the brand carries a certain Italian charm, not every model has lived up to it. But after spending time with the 2025 GranCabrio Trofeo, I walked away impressed, more than I thought I’d be.
For starters, this isn’t just a pretty convertible with a fancy badge. The Trofeo carries Maserati’s 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6, pushing out 542 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. On paper, some might argue a V6 isn’t exotic enough for a car with a trident badge. But the moment you drop the roof and hit the throttle, the engine proves its worth. It’s quick, 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds quick. Also, the soundtrack is refined yet exciting, especially with the top down.
The GranCabrio Trofeo really shows what a grand tourer should be. It’s comfortable, stylish, and nicely balanced. The eight-speed automatic shifts smoothly, and the steering feels sharp and confident. Above all, the suspension adjusts itself well whether you’re on the highway or in the city. Even on rough roads, it stayed steady. It honestly surprised me for a convertible.
And then there’s the design. Maserati’s team didn’t just chop the roof off the GranTurismo and call it a day. The GranCabrio looks elegant with the roof up and even better with it down. Inside, it’s not overly flashy. However, the materials feel premium, the seats are supportive, and yes, the paddle shifters are addictive to use.
At around $220,000, it’s far from cheap. You can find faster cars for less. But the GranCabrio Trofeo isn’t about raw numbers. It’s about the experience: style, sound, comfort, and presence rolled into one package. And on that front, Maserati absolutely delivers.
