Spyker is back with a hand-built hypercar with a manual gearbox limited to only 25 units.

Dutch supercar maker Spyker unveiled the new C8 Preliator XXV Coupé on August 14, 2026, at The Quail during Monterey Car Week. It is the brand’s first entirely new model in a decade, and it marks a fresh start after two bankruptcies in the past twelve years.

Spyker’s modern history began in 1999, when founder Victor Muller revived a name that once belonged to a Dutch car and aircraft maker active from 1880 to 1926. The relaunched brand became known for the original C8 series, mid-engine cars powered by Audi engines and built with aviation-inspired styling. The company later went bankrupt in 2014, then again in 2021. Its last model, the 2016 C8 Preliator, saw only a couple of cars completed out of a planned 50.

Muller has returned to lead the company again. The new C8 Preliator XXV Coupé is co-owned by Ukrainian entrepreneur Volodymyr Nosov, who commissioned the first production car himself.

The engine is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 sourced from Audi. It produces 789 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, and revs to 7,600 rpm. Spyker says the car will reach 60 mph in under 3 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 217 mph. The power goes through a manual gearbox to the rear wheels, at a time when almost every rival supercar maker has switched to automatic or dual-clutch transmissions.

Quick specs:

  • Engine: 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, Audi-sourced
  • Power: 789 hp / 738 lb-ft of torque
  • Redline: 7,600 rpm
  • Drivetrain: manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive
  • 0-60 mph: under 3 seconds (claimed)
  • Top speed: more than 217 mph (claimed)
  • Production limit: 25 units

Most modern supercar makers build their bodies from carbon fiber. Spyker took a different approach. Every exterior panel on the C8 Preliator XXV Coupé is hand-shaped in aluminum by artisans at Coventry Prototype Panels in England, then fitted over a spaceframe chassis that Spyker engineered specifically for this car. The full build takes about 2,100 hours per vehicle.

The design carries forward Spyker’s long-running aviation theme. NACA ducts serve as air intakes, the wheels are shaped like propellers, and a raised fin runs down the center of the roof. The taillights are styled to resemble jet afterburners.

Spyker numbers the debut car chassis 270 and says it stands as the last of 255 cars the company has built since its 2000 revival. That car is finished in a color called Quail Green, flecked with rose gold, and paired with Tuscan Saddle leather inside. The attention to detail carries into small touches, including a steering wheel that takes one craftsman four hours to hand-stitch.

The suspension is also unconventional. Spyker fitted a tractive suspension system with six drive modes and a lift function, and says the car needs no stabilizer bars because the system keeps it level on its own.

After its debut at The Quail, the C8 Preliator XXV Coupé will appear on the Concept Car Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 16. Spyker says this is only the first step in its comeback. The company plans to revive its long-delayed D8 Peking-to-Paris SUV project and return to GT3-level motorsport.
