Here’s A New Feature That Is Getting A Lot Of Attention

When Ford announced that eighty special-edition Lincoln Continentals would be produced to commemorate the 80th anniversary, it wasn’t expected that they would sell out within 48 hours. Never mind they were priced at $110,000 and beyond.

One of the reasons attributed to quick love of this fashion is that the design actually existed on Lincoln Continentals in the 1960s. This classical attachment endears people to feel like they own one of those old time machines.

The doors open to the rear of the car, giving the entrance rather awkward and wide access to the interior. The design, where the rear doors open toward the rear of the car, was once a common feature on Lincoln Continentals primarily in the 1960s.

Going by the love for SUV these days, it has become an uphill task for sedans to make a kill. It was wise enough, in this case, to place the Continental in a distinguished class.

This thought of distinguished segmentation for the purposes of marketing is well expressed by publisher Karl Brauer. He says, “Cars can still be effective to help represent where a brand is and where it is going. It is a kind of spiritual guide for the brand, even if it is not a sales leader.”

This is clearly the model that the company opted on this special edition car and it surely worked well for them.
