Made By A Former Racer, the Brabham BT62 Might Rewrite History

A man who has previously taken part in a Formula 1 race could possibly not go wrong with an attempt to set up his own car making outfit. And when this outfit is bent on making cars that compete in races, it becomes more exciting because the maker’s experience can be traced in the vehicles he makes.

David Brabham, son of triple world champion Sir Jack is a former Formular 1 race. Early in 2018, his company Brabham Automotive announced that it will be developing a 700hp track-only hypercar named the Brabham BT62. News has it that this car might just as well be made road-legal.

This is a vehicle that might go head to head with a McLaren Senna. Wearing a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated mid-mounted V8 quad-cam engine.

As is the trend with modern cars of its type it is covered with carbon fibre body panels. At just 972kg, this small machine has a power-to-weight ratio of 720bhp per tonne.

The company explained that the car is “specifically designed, developed and tested to reward like no other.” Well, this is arguably a competitive space and only grand tests can confirm such statements. Nonetheless, the milestone is worth celebrating and the thought of challenging top performers is much welcome.
