The Fearless Fisker EMotion

The Electric Car Of The Next Generation

Henrik Fisker is a Danish-born entrepreneur and automotive designer and the man behind Fisker Inc, the company building the EMotion, an EV that promises to pour lots of change into the landscape. Mr. Fisker has worked for some big names in the game including the Aston Martin DB9, BMW Z8, Galpin-Fisker Mustang Rocket, and VLF Force 1 V10, among others.

His outfit Fisker Automotive came around in 2007 and went down to work quickly bring around the Fisker Karma hybrid sports sedan in 2011. As it turned out, the Karma didn’t pan out all that great, and Fisker resigned as chairman of the company that bore his name in 2013.

Lots of water has gone under the bridge since then, and now, Fisker has brought about the EMotion, framed as a luxurious all-electric four-door with quick performance, groundbreaking solid-state battery technology, and upwards of 400 miles of range per charge. Not to mention supercar good looks and Level 4 self-driving capability.

Of course this is currently a super competitive space at the moment and there are lots of things that determines whether and how a startup breaks even. Having previously tried a few things out Fisker is no novice in this space and the specs promised by the E-Motion might turn out to be the code needed to code the fortunes safe.

The Fisker EMotion is built from carbon fiber and aluminium, and features elements designed around the LiDARs dotted at the front and rear of the car. The door handles are flush, operated via your smartphone. It’s big, too: 5 meters in length and 1.4 meters in height, around the size of a BMW 5 Series. The wheels are similarly huge: 24s as standard, on low rolling-resistance Pirellis.

Inside, you’re treated to ultra-soft leather, four-individual, fully electric and adjustable “first-class” seats, three driver-orientated screens, and much more including the option of a monster 27 in. curved rear screen and a five-seat configuration (basically a rear-bench).

The speed on offer is something for that takes you a couple of minutes to absorb. It features multiple electric motors on board, producing more than 575 kW of power (or 780 bhp) to all four wheels. This translates into a 0-60 mph time of “less than” three seconds, and a top speed of 161 mph. Any way you cut it, that’s fast.

The Fisker EMotion no doubt acknowledges that the space it seeks to occupy is no mean affair. It has, befittingly come ready to face the music.
