A Car That Was Given Good Attention At Engineering

Among mainstream carmakers that have made a bold step into electrification, Audi takes a prominent position. If you put into consideration the all-electric e-Tron crossover, the flagship A8 and the Q5, you might as well argue that this aspect of Audi had remained hidden for a long time.

For the A6, the company has borrowed heavily from the Q5 plug-in hybrid. Referring to the vehicle in the house, it is known as the A6 “55 TFSI e Quattro.” Never mind, for us the A6 is good enough: doesn’t pressure the mind as much.

Even with all this attempt at complication, the car is riding on a somewhat conventional plug-in powertrain. The gasoline engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that will produce 250 horsepower.

Electric power is supplied by a 105-kw motor. This combination is finalized with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

These to power sources combined the Audi A6 gives out 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet. Power is shared among all four wheels, a system that Audi is conventionally in love with.

On the rear axle of this Audi sits 14.1-kWh battery pack that is alleged to deliver approximately 30 miles on a full charge. It does seem that Audi gave this car quite a deep thought before unleashing it.

It is handed three driving modes defined as Hybrid, EV and Hold. Hybrid is basically a normal operation. On Hold mode, thoughts go to conservation of battery charge. On EV mode, the vehicle is precisely on electric.

Audi’s approach seems to center around giving each class of consumers something they can drive. This might be a workable strategy that gives results in the long run.
