For Its History and Performance It Was Truly Beloved

Carroll Shelby needs no introduction in the racing circles. He played a pivotal role in the modification and tuning of several beloved supercars. However, the Shelby Series 1 deserves special attention.

The Series 1 was at the heart of the decorated race driver as he personally designed and engineered its creation from the ground up. Other Shelbys, on the other hand, are re-engineered models that are produced by other manufacturers and go back to Shelby for modification.

Shelby foresaw this car as the epitome of lightweight two-seater cars of his time. Although it was expected to be magical in power specs and design, it wasn’t exactly outstanding, but still managed to fair standing amongst the competition.

It was given a rather stiff chassis, just as stiff as Shelby could make and crowned it with extreme comfort items including air conditioning, power windows, and a CD player. It was priced at around $100,000.

One of the most immediate elements of this Shelby is that it was meant to be a vehicle of its own skin, not one that would face the competition of Viper, Vette, or whatever else. Carroll Shelby had meant this machine to be as unique as it could get.

This car weighed 2,650 pounds, giving it an amazing power-to-weight ratio. Its top speed was 170 mph. With the turbocharged V8 engine, this car generated 600 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque and sprinted from 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

It was a serene car, capable and beloved especially for the legend’s touch on it. Were it to compete with modern cars, it would ultimately still pride in a good position in race tracks.
