The Mitsubishi evolution series gave us some truly sporty and friendly experience. Of special mention is the Evo VI all the way to Evo IX, which proved indeed that the Japanese automaker has over time mastered the art.

If we begin with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII, we find a machine that had found a vacuum to be filled and went ahead to improve on that space by and by. The pace had been set by the excellence of the Evo VI.

Our attention is however drawn to the Lancer Evolution X, the car that marked the end of the production of this series. To begin with, it came with a special new engine with the internal code 4B11T.

This is a 2-liter, and just like in the previous, it is turbocharged inline four. There comes a big difference however in that the cylinder block is cast from aluminum as opposed to the previous iron cast.

This makes it a whole 12kg lighter, which contributes to a total of 1,540 kg curb weight. The Evo X seemed designed to sign off the production of this series in unique style further by introducing the dual-clutch unit referred to as TC SST (Twin Clutch Sports Shift Transmission) in the brand’s inner circle.

With this, the car does 0-60 mph in 5.2 secs and generates a plausible 276 bhp. For infotainment, this car has a 6.1-inch infotainment touchscreen perched on the center of the dashboard.

It is responsible for the satellite radio as well as Bluetooth audio plus phone streaming services available. However, it lacks other enticing features such as Apple CarPlay or even navigation and Android Auto.

Of course, this is a car that has its roots in race championships and wanted to keep this legacy intact. Luckily, it did so much to this effect that we aren’t going to forget it any time soon.
