A Classic Car That Transcended Time Performance

What car designer Tom Tjaarda had in mind when penning the iconic Detomaso Pantera is clearly presented in the fantastic lines that make this curvy supercar a great classic to go back to. Bearing a V8 engine from Ford that takes in 5.8-litre, the vehicle was ready to give a matching performance in energizing Italian fashion.

Estimates say that about 9000 of these substantially capable cars were produced between 1971 and 1990, most of which ended up in the American market. The Detomaso Pantera belongs to the class of supercars that became rare to find in modern times.

What is considerably unforgettable about such cars though is the legacy they left and how they made their owners feel. They were cars of prestige, class, comfort, and performance, so good that if you land your hands on one today you will no doubt fall in love with the precious gem and preserve it incredibly.

Way back in August 1971, a reviewer described the Pantera saying: “there is enough room in the cockpit for two average-size adults. A six-footer has plenty of headroom, his knees won’t be aimed into his chin and he can stretch his arms and square his shoulders without feeling like he is in a one-man submarine.”

That the Pantera found favor with the market of the day can best be analyzed by the period of time it remained in production.
