The Autotuner Decided To Craft Own Car

Germany’s autotuner RUF knows how to make Porsche look and sound special. They have tuned them for so long and continue to be a force to reckon with. At some point though, they found it befitting to do everything in their own style.

At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the company unveiled the CTR Anniversary prototype. This one was a presentation of the classic 1987 Yellow Bird and utilized the company’s first in-house developed chassis that is mainly carbon fiber.

In fact, all body panels are made from carbon fiber which keeps the vehicle’s weight in check. It weighs only just 2,646 pounds (1,200 kilograms).

The Ruf chooses a twin-turbo flat-six engine that consumes 3.6-liter. This helps it to garner 700 horsepower (522 kilowatts). It is able to ride all the way to 224 miles per hour (360 kilometers per hour) and sprints to 60mph in a mere 3.5 seconds.

The interior of the RUF is primarily Alcantara suede mainly because it contributes to the lightweight. Even the seats are carbon fiber, while the pedals are aluminum, all geared to keeping the weight in check.

While Ruf says that only 30 of these cars will be made, the world might ask for just a couple more. Customers will part with chums to the tune of $750,000 to $800,000.

Whichever way you look at it, the RUF is an incredibly creative approach as an introductory car
